How Safety Goggles protects your Eyes?
Safety Goggles are protective eye covering which is used to protect from water or chemicals. They are safety glasses that fit tightly to the eye, often with suction, and are secured with a strap that goes around the back of the head. It may be used to protect the eye against particles, chemicals, water, glare, and from things striking the eyes.
Types of Safety Goggles
- Direct vented Safety goggles enable the direct flow of air into the goggle. The openings in the vented portion of the goggles exclude spherical objects that are 0.06 inches in diameter.
- Indirectly vented goggles provide safety from splash entry by a hooded or covered vent. The vented portion of the goggle is designed so that no direct straight-line section from the exterior to the interior of the goggle exists.
- Non-vented goggles have no venting of any kind and offer protection against the passage of dust, mist, etc
How to wear Safety Goggles?
- There should be no discomforting pressure points on the side of the head or behind the ears.
- The nose piece must be comfortable and contact your nose without pinching.
- You should be able to see in all directions without any major obstruction.
- The overall weight of your safety eyewear should be evenly shared between your ears and your nose so that frames sit comfortably on your face without distracting from tasks.
- Frames should fit close to the face without hitting your eye. The space around the frames and your face must be less than a pencil width. Gaps of less than or equal to 5 to 8mm are preferred.
- Lenses should cover the eyebrow and any soft tissue around it.
- Eyewear should stay in place when you move your head front to back and side by side.
